Study aim: "The study was set out to reach three objectives. First, PBDE concentrations were measured in flounder (Platichthy flesus) collected from three southern Baltic Sea locations that included open sea sites and the Gulf of Gdansk, to examine spatial differences in the contaminant levels and profiles. Second, in order to evaluate bioavailability of sediment associated PBDEs, the compounds were measured in sediments and biota sediment accumulation factors (BSAFs) were estimated. Third, PBDE levels were examined in muscle, liver, and gonads to evaluate an inter-tissue distribution."
