Study aim: "In this work, the general hypothesis that crab beds, due to the crab burrows, act as a sink for organochlorines in the estuaries, eventually reducing the input of organic pollutants into the sea was evaluated. With this purpose, surficial sediments from inside and outside burrows within crab beds were collected to determine differences in OCP concentrations, and further compared to sediment sampled from outside the crab bed."
